“High Potential” Has Been Renamed for the New Season

A surprising claim about High Potential has left fans wondering whether the ABC crime drama is preparing for its biggest transformation yet.
According to several posts circulating online, the series will return for its new season under a completely different name.
Some viewers believed the alleged change was connected to Morgan Gillory’s increasingly dangerous investigation.
Others suspected ABC wanted to relaunch the show with a darker identity after the dramatic events involving Roman, Wagner and the LAPD team.
Fan-made posters soon appeared with unfamiliar subtitles, revised logos and references to the show’s original French version.
The speculation grew because many of the images were designed to resemble official ABC promotional material.
However, the network has not announced that the title is being replaced.
The detail causing most of the confusion is that the series already has another official name—but only in the country where the original story began.
Why are fans seeing two different titles?

High Potential is based on the successful French television series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel, commonly shortened to HPI.
The French title roughly refers to a person with high intellectual potential, which describes Morgan’s exceptional ability to notice patterns, remember details and solve complex cases.
When the show was adapted for American television, ABC chose the shorter title High Potential.
The characters, location and some story elements were changed, but the central concept remained similar: an unconventional mother with remarkable intelligence becomes involved in police investigations.
Because the French series continues to attract international attention, promotional pages and fan accounts sometimes place the titles High Potential and HPI beside each other.
That does not mean ABC has decided to rename its version.
The official ABC pages continue to display High Potential, with Kaitlin Olson as Morgan and Daniel Sunjata as Karadec.
Where did the new rumor begin?
The rumor appears to have been fueled by unofficial posters using titles such as High Potential: New Chapter, HPI America or Morgan’s Return.
These names may sound believable because television networks occasionally add subtitles when relaunching or expanding a franchise.
Yet none of these versions has appeared in an official announcement from ABC.
Another source of confusion may be streaming platforms in different countries. Local distributors sometimes translate titles or prominently mention the original series to help viewers recognize an adaptation.
A translated listing is not necessarily evidence of a creative change.
Could the title still change later?

Technically, any network can rebrand a series, but such a decision would normally be accompanied by a press release, new artwork and updates across official platforms.
ABC has not made those changes.
The show’s official description still presents High Potential as the story of a single mother whose exceptional mind leads to an unusual partnership with a by-the-book detective.
The absence of an announcement is important because a genuine title change would affect advertising, streaming searches, episode listings and international licensing.
It would be almost impossible to hide until the new season premiered.
The real change fans should watch
Although the title remains the same, the story itself could feel very different.
Morgan’s personal search for answers about Roman has gradually become more dangerous, while her relationships inside the police department have grown increasingly complicated.
A new season could therefore introduce a darker tone, larger conspiracy and greater threat to her family without changing the name of the program.
For now, the answer is clear: High Potential has not officially been renamed.
The mysterious alternative titles spreading online appear to come from translations, fan campaigns and unofficial artwork.
But the rumor may have accidentally revealed something important.
Fans are expecting the next chapter to feel so different that many already believe it needs a new name—even though ABC has decided that High Potential still says everything viewers need to know.
