Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Shocker: ‘Yellowstone’ Star Joins the Cast!

Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Shocker: ‘Yellowstone’ Star Joins the Cast!

This week, the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is opening its doors to receive Yellowstone star Piper Perabo for an extended stay. Unfortunately for her character, though, a long stay for a patient in Grey’s Anatomy usually means bad news. In order to tease the new episode and reveal a bit more of what will happen to the new character, ABC unveiled a set of new images from this Thursday’s installment of the long-running medical drama.

The images reveal that Perabo won’t be the actual patient, but rather her onscreen daughter, played by Sophia Kopera (Bosch: Legacy). Titled “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” the episode will cover a challenging case handled by Amelia (Caterina Scorsone). The episode synopsis reveals that Amelia will have to perform a high-risk brain surgery on the little girl, and the parents will understandably be concerned. Since Perabo is doing a three-episode arc, we can already suspect that the girl’s situation might get worse or that she will have a slow recovery from surgery.

There’s also the matter of the case stretching to the end of this season of Grey’s Anatomy. As every fan of the series knows, the show doesn’t tend to end its seasons on happy notes, and sometimes this means that people will die. Throughout all seasons, most doctors have dealt with the loss of a patient who, for some reason, hits them harder. This could be another example of this situation. In any case, this Thursday, we will have a better idea of where the story might go as soon as we get the full context of the episode.

Wedding Bells Are Ringing on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

But it’s not all bad news in Grey’s Anatomy. The new episode will also see the preparations for Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) and Lincoln’s (Chris Carmack) wedding. It will be a big development for both characters, but especially for Jo — she went from being homeless to being abandoned out of nowhere by Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) to coming out the other side as a successful surgeon. We might see a different side of Jo in Season 22.

Speaking of which, while we don’t know details from the new season of the series, we do know that a major star will be making her return to the upcoming episodes, probably for a seven-episode arc. Long-time main cast members Chandra Wilson (General Hospital), James Pickens, Jr. (The Conners), and Kevin McKidd (It Ends with Us) are also attached to keep walking the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
