SAD NEWS: ‘Neighbours’ Has Officially Been Cancelled After Decades – Fans Are in Shock!
According to The Sun, beloved Australian soap Neighbours is allegedly set to be cancelled.
The outlet reports that the series will wrap up at the end of 2025.
Amazon revived Neighbours two years after it was originally axed, however it has now been revealed that the streaming giant is also set to cancel the show.
Ten first axed the iconic series in June 2022, after 37 years on screen.
The news was confirmed after Australian production company Fremantle Media failed to find a new broadcast partner following Channel 5’s decision to withdraw its partnership. Channel 5 is a UK network that funds the majority of Neighbours’ production.
“Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show,” a post to the Neighbours,” the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account tweeted at the time.
“To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours.”
Neighbours is one of Australia’s longest running shows, and it launched the careers of some of our biggest stars including Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem, and Guy Pearce, to name a few.
The news of the series’ cancellation has yet to be formally confirmed by Amazon, but we’ll be updating this article with more details once they become available.
