Breaking: Larissa Lima Takes a Step Back from Social Media After Being Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder!
90 Day Fiance’s Larissa Lima Diagnosed With Major Depressive Disorder, Taking Social Media Break
90 Day Fiancé star Larissa Dos Santos Lima has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and is stepping away from social media.
A rep for the reality star, 38, named Julia Dickson, announced the news on Larissa’s Instagram on Wednesday, February 19.
“To Larissa’s loyal followers, friends, and supporters, as someone who has been by Larissa’s side for many years, I have always admired her honesty and openness with those who follow her journey. Today, I want to share an important message on her behalf,” the message began. “Larissa has been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and, after careful consideration, she has decided to take a temporary break from her social media platforms to focus on her health and well-being. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and right now, her priority is receiving the care she needs.”
However, the announcement added that Larissa will “continue updating her OnlyFans community, which currently has nearly 3,258 subscribers,” because the platform “remains a space where she feels comfortable sharing content.”
“Once she has made progress in managing her condition, she fully intends to return to social media and reconnect with her audience. She deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and concern from friends, fans, and everyone who has reached out,” the post continued. “Please rest assured that Larissa is under the care of a dedicated medical team, and she is taking the necessary steps to recover. During this time, I will be monitoring her social media to ensure she has the peace and privacy she deserves.”
The announcement concluded, “Mental health matters, and no one has to go through this alone. On behalf of Larissa, I thank you all for your kindness, patience, and support. She looks forward to returning stronger and healthier in the near future.”
Larissa’s Instagram page has been wiped clean of all other posts except for the announcement as of publication.
Major depressive disorder, also known as clinical depression, is a mood disorder that “causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest,” according to Mayo Clinic. The mental illness “affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.”
Larissa first rose to fame on 90 Day Fiancé season 6 in 2018 alongside then-fiancé Colt Johnson. Fans watched the Brazil native move to Las Vegas to be with Colt, 39, as they navigated their tumultuous relationship. The pair tied the knot in 2018 and continued their story on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? seasons 4 and 5.
However, Colt filed for divorce from Larissa in 2019 after she was arrested for domestic assault for the third time. Larissa “did willfully and unlawfully use force or violence against or upon the person of her spouse,” according to court documents filed in January 2019. She was ordered by a judge to pay a $345 fine and serve 48 hours of community service.
Larissa was fired from TLC in 2020 and claimed on Instagram that it was because of her affiliation with the adult streaming site CamSoda.
“I want to make a statement for you. I am no longer a cast member of the show 90 Day Fiancé. Because of my show with CamSoda, I was released from my contract with TLC by phone the day before ICE arrested me,” she wrote. “I will continue producing content for my official channels on Instagram, OnlyFans and YouTube. Thanks for your understanding, love and attention.”
“We never know what surprises await us in Las Vegas,” she captioned a post announcing the marriage. “After 6 years, I never thought I would find true love. Thank you, my friends, for being part of this journey.”
