After Jenn kissed Joey, Maria was noticeably annoyed and uncomfortable. Nonetheless, Maria didn’t let this get in the way of her friendship with Jenn, who she continued to support.
During the rose ceremony before hometowns, Jenn and Maria shared one of the sweetest moments of the season. Before Joey began to hand out roses, Jenn and Maria grabbed hands and whispered that they loved one another. This was touching, as it showed their friendship was so much more than the show. Ultimately, Jenn was eliminated, while Maria progressed to the final four.

After Joey’s season, Jenn and Maria both sat down for interviews for the Call Her Daddy Podcast. During Jenn’s interview, she opened up about how it felt to be chosen as the Bachelorette. At one point, she indicated that she was disappointed to see false information circulating about the selection process. While Jenn didn’t specify what she was referring to, it seemed like she was throwing shade at Maria.
Maria had done an episode of Call Her Daddy a few months prior, where she alluded to some interesting things. During her interview, Maria claimed that the Bachelorette role had been offered to her, but that she declined it. This suggests that Jenn wasn’t the producer’s first choice, which could have offended her. During her episode, it’s very possible that this could be one of the false narratives Jenn was referring to.
Furthermore, it seems like Daisy Kent may have been asked to be the Bachelorette before Jenn as well. During the Season 28 finale, Daisy admitted that she wasn’t yet ready for the role. This hints at the fact that producers may have asked Daisy to be the Bachelorette, which she turned down. This would put Jenn as the third choice, although it’s possible Maria’s story may not have been entirely accurate.

The biggest indicator of Jenn and Maria no longer being friends is the fact that the latter unfollowed the former on Instagram. Maria unfollowed Jenn after her appearance on Call Her Daddy, which suggests she wasn’t thrilled with her interview. This makes sense, as it seems like Jenn’s statements were pretty clearly pointing at Maria’s.
Jenn, however, is still following Maria on Instagram. It’s possible that she didn’t realize Maria unfollowed her, which could be why she hasn’t done the same. On the other hand, Jenn may not have meant her statements as a direct dig at Maria. It’s very possible that Jenn still considers Maria a good friend, which is why she is still following her.
Despite unfollowing Jenn, Maria posted a story to support her after her season premiered.
