Since being rejected by Gerry Turner during the season finale of The Golden Bachelor, Leslie Fhima has been desperate to prove that she’s over getting her heart trampled, but she’s not fooling anyone. Leslie, a 65-year-old dance instructor from Minneapolis, Minnesota, walked into the Bachelor mansion along with 21 other amazing older women. Despite facing stiff competition, Leslie was able to stand out from the crowd and capture the 72-year-old Gerry’s attention. After a season of getting to know each other, Gerry gave his final two roses to Leslie and 70-year-old day trader Theresa Nist.
It all seemed to be smooth sailing for Leslie after Gerry’s hometown visit with her family went well, and he even told her that she was “the one.” In the end, The Golden Bachelor season 1 ended with Gerry giving his final rose to Theresa, and marrying her in a dream wedding that Leslie was contractually obligated to attend. Since then (despite Gerry’s subsequent divorce from Theresa), Leslie has been trying to prove to the world that she’s over Gerry by posting about how happy she is all the time.

In his hilarious comedy, The Taming Of The Shrew, the great William Shakespeare wrote, “Methinks the lady doth protest too much,” and the Bard may as well have been writing about Leslie’s Instagram timeline. It seems that each passing day brings another post from Leslie highlighting her utter happiness, from one success to the next. Between her son’s wedding, and all of her career coups, Leslie has been doing well lately. And though it’s great that Leslie is thriving, it can sometimes veer into desperate territory.
Since The Golden Bachelor season 1 aired, Leslie has been focusing on her work as a dance instructor. Her career has grown a lot since she gained notoriety for appearing on the show. In June, Leslie posted a video clip of herself wearing tiny denim shorts and choreographing the opening dance number for this year’s Olympic gymnastics trials in Minnesota. In the post’s caption, Leslie raved about the young athletes that she was working with, writing, “The energy was off the charts and these young athletes delivered.”
The Olympics are a beloved institution, and Leslie should be proud of the achievement, but when it comes to self-congratulatory social media posts, less is more.
In sharp contrast, Theresa, who is currently going through a divorce from Gerry, has posted mostly about her family, spending time with her friends, and her beautiful garden. Though Theresa appears to be doing well since the split, it doesn’t come off like she’s making too much of an effort. Theresa and Gerry called it quits in April 2024, a little over three months after their wedding, in large part due to the fact that the couple couldn’t decide on a place to live.

Though Leslie and Theresa were the last two women standing on The Golden Bachelor season 1, they didn’t let the competition for Gerry get in the way of their friendship. In June, soon after Gerry and Theresa settled their divorce, Leslie posted Instagram photos of Theresa’s recent visit to Minnesota. The two women had long talked about Theresa traveling to see Leslie, and they were finally able to make it happen.
The post’s caption reads, “Had such a great weekend with @theresa_nist in Minneapolis! Fitness, fun, food, friends and family! Minneapolis loves her.”
Both Theresa and Leslie have claimed to be on friendly terms with Gerry, with Theresa going so far as to say she still loves him, despite the fact that they couldn’t make it work. Leslie should take pointers from Theresa on how to show people that you’re over your ex without going too far with it.
Leslie Should Give Gerry Another Shot
They’re Both Single
Though it’s great that Leslie is happy and thriving, it’s clear that she isn’t over what happened on The Golden Bachelor season 1, and she should consider giving Gerry another shot. She was recently interviewed on the podcast, Playing The Field, which aired on YouTube, and she was asked about the possibility of ever dating Gerry again. Her answer was clearly and unambiguously no. She told the interviewer that though she doesn’t hate Gerry, she refuses to be anyone’s second choice.
It’s understandable that she would feel this way after suffering such a public rejection, but Leslie shouldn’t let pride get in the way of her romantic journey.
For his part, Gerry was spotted at a dating event soon after announcing his divorce from Theresa. Though it’s unclear if he was there as a participant or as a host of the event, it was yet another scandal to throw on Gerry’s pile of missteps. He recently told TMZ that he wasn’t ready to date yet, but that he had a lot of women sliding into his DMs and approaching him in person. Though he hadn’t accepted any of the offers, he wanted everyone to know that he had plenty of options.
