A Potential Love Triangle Threatens to Disrupt Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9
A love triangle between Elena Dubaich, Bri Muller, and Joe Bradley could ruin Below Deck Mediterranean season 9. The Mediterranean-based Below Deck spin-off’s new season is off to a good start. Aesha Scott returned to be Captain Sandy Yawn’s Chief Stew for the season after leading Below Deck Down Under with Captain Jason Chambers for two seasons. She’s one of the best Below Deck Chief Stews, and casting her on the series was smart. Aesha is the season’s star, but the whole crew has been stellar so far.
The Below Deck franchise introduced a new pool of crew members with the new season. Instead of recycling alumni yachties, everyone except Captain Sandy, Aesha, and Elena has never been on the series before season 9. The new personalities have brought fresh energy and made the show entertaining to watch. While the second stew was worried about Bri’s performance, Aesha wasn’t. Instead of trying to scare her into doing better on her second day, she uplifted her stew and assured her the first day was hard on everyone. Captain Sandy commended Aesha’s leadership skills after she gave Bri the pep talk, though Elena was still somewhat annoyed with her adeptness. The second stew subconsciously acted as the Chief Stew when Aesha wasn’t as concerned with Bri’s showing.

The trailer shows clips of Elena and Joe dancing together one night out while the deckhand explains his behavior as “Joe-ing” instead of “hoe-ing.” Later, Elena sits down with Bri and tells her, “I made it abundantly clear I was interested in Joe,” hinting that the second stew tries to hit on the deckhand.
Joe apologizes to Elena for being a “prick,” teasing that their boatmance goes south. The remainder of the trailer shows clips of the second and third stew clashing over work-related things. If Bri gets in the middle of Elena’s boatmance with Joe, it makes sense as to why they’d be fighting so much in the trailer. At one point, Bri sits down with Captain Sandy and tells her that someone purposefully didn’t clean the cabins, which seemingly was Elena potentially acting out of spite.

The Below Deck Med Season 9 Crew Is Getting Along So Well
Elena, Bri, and Joe’s love triangle will likely hurt the comradery between the Below Deck Med season 9 crew. It’s early in the charter season, but the cast has gotten along well. The deck team has forged a strong bond among themselves, with Gael and Nathan also being romantically interested in each other. Conversely, Aesha has managed her stews well and offered them support during each charter. Elena has grown annoyed with Bri over minor mistakes, but she’s only complained about her in confessional interviews. Nonetheless, if both the stews are after the same man, their feud will take shape quickly.
If Elena and Bri worked in different departments, the season could be salvaged. However, since they work closely, a love triangle will disrupt their day-to-day flow. Elena somewhat looked down on Bri for her lack of experience as a stew after the first charter. If she attempts to steal her man, this will make the second stew even less fond of her. Aesha may have to step in and diffuse their conflict, but Captain Sandy will likely have to fire Elena or Bri if they can’t get along.
