The Bachelor season 28 star Joey Graziadei is rumored to be one of the stars on the next season of Dancing With The Stars, but I’m certain that if he competes on the series, it will ruin his relationship with Kelsey Anderson. The lead of The Bachelor season 28, Joey first appeared on The Bachelorette season 20 with Charity Lawson. Known as a charming, laid-back contestant, the tennis instructor was a clear favorite amongst Bachelor Nation, but he didn’t win Charity’s heart. Instead, Joey went on to become the next lead, choosing from his group of women as The Bachelor.

During his time as The Bachelor, Joey got to know a group of women who were excited to meet the charming, vulnerable man they’d seen on TV. Though many of the women felt they’d be a perfect match for Joey, his feelings for Kelsey were abundantly clear from the beginning of the season. After the journey of a lifetime, Joey proposed to Kelsey and the pair have been planning their future together. On a recent podcast, Joey shared something that led some to wonder if he’d be returning to reality TV on DWTS, which I think would be a mistake.

Joey’s Allegedly Dropping Hints About A New Reality TV Venture

He Shared He’d Be Getting An Influx Of Cash

During a recent appearance on Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tartick’s podcast, Trading Secrets, Joey and Kelsey talked about where their relationship has been, where they’re going, and what they’re looking forward to in the future. The conversation was fascinating, and Bachelor Nation read into some of the more cryptic information that Joey shared during the episode. At one point, Joey mentioned that he’s hopeful he’ll be receiving an influx of cash soon. This wasn’t necessarily out of pocket, as the podcast is typically financial in nature, but Joey didn’t give any information about what he meant by the aloof statement.

While Joey’s money could be from several sources, the vague way he spoke about the money got some Bachelor Nation viewers thinking about what he was talking about. Some began to form the theory that Joey could be appearing on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars that will be airing this fall. While I’m not sure that I believe the rumor, it does sound like something that’s at least possible. Though Dancing With The Stars season 33 won’t premiere until Septemeber 2024, the prep likely would begin in August, leaving Joey just a few months until his payday.

Dancing With The Stars Has A Long History With Bachelor Nation

Many Leads & Contestants Have Competed

Throughout Dancing With The Stars history, there have been several Bachelor Nation alumni who’ve competed for the coveted mirrorball trophy. While DWTS used to invite a very different type of star on the series, things began to shift as reality TV became less ostracized as a genre. During Dancing With The Stars season 8, Melissa Rycroft, the winner of The Bachelor season 13, joined the season as a last-minute replacement less than a week after Bachelor Jason Mesnick broke up with her on live TV. Viewers were uncertain about Melissa joining the series, but she wound up in third place.

After Melissa’s incredible showing, Dancing With The Stars invited Bachelor Nation alumni into the ballroom. While original Bachelorette Trista Sutter had been on the series during DWTS season 1, after Melissa, Jake Pavelka, Sean Lowe, Chris Soules, Nick Viall, Joe Amabile, Hannah Brown, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Matt James, Gabby Windey, and Charity Lawson have since appeared on the series. While some of the Bachelor Nation alumni weren’t the best performers, some have gone on to the finals and won the competition. The majority of Bachelor alumni have enjoyed their experiences on Dancing With The Stars immensely, regardless of their final standing.

The Competition On DWTS Can Be Incredibly Emotionally Draining

It’s Taxing For Even The Most Stable Competitors

While the Dancing With The Stars experience can be something the professional dancers and celebrity performers find to be profound, the competition mixed with the grueling training schedule can be emotionally draining. Throughout the run of Dancing With The Stars, there have been reports of some serious breakdowns from the stars competing in the series, especially those who are trying to maintain their day-to-day lives while competing on the show. The series has also had an interesting mix of results when it comes to contestants who are in Bachelor Nation relationships, as the competition can put a strain on things.

While Bachelor Nation contestants sometimes come onto the series when they’re in well-established, years-long relationships, the majority of those who compete on DWTS have come freshly off the show and are in new relationships with very little foundation. Though there’s love and care between the Bachelor couples, the half who appears on DWTS tends to have a lot more going on than they did before, with dance rehearsal, live shows, and overall mental well-being. As it can be a lot, it can be tricky to balance Dancing With The Stars and a new Bachelor relationship all at the same time.

Joey & Kelsey’s Relationship Is Still Too New To Test So Harshly

They Still Have A Lot To Figure Out

Although Joey and Kelsey have been able to work through some of the more difficult moments of their initial few months post-Bachelor, there’s still a long way to go before their relationship isn’t considered “new” anymore. With just a few months between The Bachelor season 28 finale and the Dancing With The Stars season 33 premiere, Joey competing on the series would be exciting, but incredibly difficult on their new relationship. Though Joey may be capable of managing a competitive training environment with live shows week-to-week, there are parts of DWTS that he and Kelsey would likely be ill-prepared for.

While I believe Joey and Kelsey’s relationship is strong after the interviews they’ve given and the glimpses into their lives we’ve seen on social media, I think DWTS would be an incredibly tough feat for them to overcome as a couple. With so much uncertainty in their lives, I think Joey and Kelsey would struggle to make things work with such a grueling schedule. While Joey would have much to consider while performing on the series, Kelsey’s shared that she recently quit her job because of their hectic schedule. I think The Bachelor stars should settle before doing anything drastic.
