Below Deck Mediterranean’s returning Chief Stew Aesha Scott kept some major news from her Below Deck Down Under captain, Jason Chambers, ahead of its announcement. Throughout her time in the Below Deck franchise, Aesha has worked for both Captain Sandy Yawn on Below Deck Med and Captain Jason on Below Deck Down Under, but the latter was her most recent appearance on the series. While Aesha was wonderful during her original run on Below Deck Med, viewers resonated with her on Below Deck Down Under, finding her relationship with Captain Jason a refreshing departure from the traditional Captain/Stew relationship.

“I mean, I’m sure he was [jealous]”

In an interview with Decider, Aesha shared that she didn’t tell Captain Jason she’d be returning to work for Captain Sandy on Below Deck Mediterranean ahead of time. When asked if her former Captain was jealous she’d returned to her old stomping grounds, Aesha explained, “I don’t know if he was, but I mean, I’m sure he was…I didn’t tell him beforehand because we’re supposed to stay in the bubble and I’m a good girl.” Aesha shared that though she didn’t tell Captain Jason on her own, “he heard it through the grapevine somehow,” but offered her his support.

While Aesha’s time on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 is just getting started, her presence on Below Deck Down Under will be sorely missed. Throughout the charter season captured on Below Deck Down Under season 2, Aesha was an integral part of things running smoothly. Captain Jason relied on Aesha to keep him up to date on what was happening with the interior crew, and when Aesha spotted trouble, she was able to quickly manage it with Captain Jason’s help. The troubling situation between stew Margot Sisson and deckhand Luke Jones, for example, would’ve been far worse without Aesha’s help.

Aesha may be a necessary part of the crew on Below Deck Down Under, but her services will be just as helpful aboard Mustique with Captain Sandy. The only issue may be that the pair could clash. While Aesha and Captain Sandy work well together, her time as Chief Stew on Mustique is something that neither yachtie is familiar with. While she was great as one of the stews aboard Captain Sandy’s vessel, it may be possible that the two don’t mesh as well. Even with the possibility of the two butting heads, Aesha should remain on Below Deck Med.

Though the season is just beginning, Aesha’s time on Below Deck Mediterranean is going to usher in a new era for the series. Working as Chief Stew, Aesha will be able to take the reigns on the interior team in a whole new way, proving herself to Captain Sandy and the viewers. While Aesha has shared that the drama on Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 is unlike anything she’s ever faced in her management career, it feels easy to predict that she’ll have a successful season aboard the superyacht regardless of the extenuating circumstances that could arise.
