Surprise Twist: ‘The Golden Bachelor’ Host Is NOT Jesse Palmer
‘The Golden Bachelor’ Sets Jessica Castro As Showrunner
This comes after the dating show was renewed for a second season with NFL veteran-turned-lawyer Mel Owens starring as the latest golden man.
Castro’s credits include being showrunner of Amazon’s zodiac dating show Cosmic Love and she has also exec produced series including ABC’s Claim to Fame and worked on Netflix’s Next in Fashion.
The series is expected to start filming relatively soon with a fall premiere likely.
Andrew Frank, who served as an executive producer on the first season of The Golden Bachelor, as well as an EP on The Golden Bachelorette will also return as exec producer of Season 2.
The showrunner change was expected after the departures of Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner from The Bachelor universe.
Deadline broke the news in March that the pair had left the franchise after we revealed that they had been accused of running a “toxic” and “hostile” environment.
The first season of The Golden Bachelor was also exec produced by Jason Ehrlich, who left the franchise after that show had wrapped. Ehrlich, a popular figure across Bachelor Nation, had initially been hired alongside Freeland and Graebner as part of a troika to lead the ABC shows.
It’s not clear how many of the staff that worked on The Bachelor and its spinoffs, which also include The Golden Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, will return for this season of The Golden Bachelor, after many of them exited earlier this year.
The Golden Bachelor is the latest show in the franchise to get a new showrunner; Deadline revealed earlier this year, that Scott Teti, who also worked on Claim to Fame as well as Married At First Sight and Peacock’s Summer House, would run Bachelor in Paradise, which launched on July 7.
The Golden Bachelor is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon.
