Neighbours fans have been left in tears following Harold Bishop’s final episode.

The legendary character, who has spent 38 years on the Australian soap, finally bid farewell to Erinsborough in an emotional exit.

Today’s episode saw Harold, played by Ian Smith, announcing his permanent move back to Queensland, as he had decided to live with his granddaughter Sky Mangel and her wife Lana Crawford.

But the Ramsey Street residents couldn’t let him go without a big goodbye party, which Harold invited newly-discovered relative Agnes Adair to join.

Harold took Agnes on a tour of his old home, Number 24, where he reminisced on memories of his late wife Madge. Meanwhile, the other neighbours shared their own touching memories, looking through the Ramsay Street history book.

The emotional episode featured a host of familiar faces in a special flashback montage, leaving viewers misty-eyed. The Neighbours Instagram account was flooded with fans bidding farewell to Harold (and Smith) in the comments section.
