Anna Redman, who competed on season 25 of The Bachelor, was forced to apologize after sparking outrage for her post on fashion choices for a visit to Auschwitz
Anna Redman received a lot of backlash for posting an Auschwitz outfit inspiration video and has revealed she was even sent death threats.
The former Bachelor contestant, 28, caused outrage when she took to her Instagram Story to share a picture of the clothes she planned on wearing for a trip to Poland, including the outfit she was going to wear to the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, where an estimated 1.1million people were killed during the Holocaust.
While Anna has admitted she understands why people were angry, she also said it’s “been hard” in the days since her post. She explained: “There was a lot of 50/50. I got a lot of messages even from the Jewish community being like, ‘Thank you so much for not hiding that you’re going and being respectful and picking a respectful outfit’.
“Some people took it as what I intended it to be, just like this is what I plan to do. And then there was also the messages of like, ‘You should have died’, or, ‘I hope they kill you when you’re there’ and I was just like, ‘Woah’. It’s a lot.”
Speaking on The TMZ Podcast, Anna added: “There was a lot of different narratives online about what I did and what I didn’t do. I think it was frustrating because definitely the intent was misinterpreted.”
She continued: “Most people who know me know I wouldn’t do that. Again, we’re on a family trip, this was never going to be a content trip. It was never about that.
“It was about making this a really enjoyable but also important trip for Chris’ family. So I think it hurt me, it hurt his family, it hurt everyone to see all this happening. But I also understood the backlash completely and thus I issued an apology.”
When Anna first shared the post, she was slammed as “tone deaf”. One person wrote: “You know what’s embarrassing? How tone deaf you are to post an Auschwitz outfit on your stories.”
Another added: “This is one of the most spiritually bankrupt things I’ve seen in a LONG time.” Anna issued an apology as she said: “I’m severely sorry for any pain I caused when sharing my packing notes story. I understand how flippant it came off labeling that day with the trip we are taking.
“I understand that heaviness of visiting Auschwitz and have been planning accordingly since we added seeing it in our travel plans. Again, I’m very sorry and took it down as soon as I understood that gravity of the mistake I made. I had no ill intentions behind it AT ALL. And I hope you guys can understand that.”
