Leslie Fhima’s journey on The Golden Bachelor was filled with memorable moments, but I’m convinced she and Gerry Turner would’ve broken up if they got married. At 64 years old, the fitness instructor and entrepreneur from Minneapolis brought a vibrant energy to the show, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Her playful entrance, shedding a disguise to reveal her true self, set the tone for her fun personality. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for Gerry, who ultimately chose Theresa Nist as his bride. However, ahead of The Golden Bachelor season 2, Gerry and Theresa divorced.
Leslie’s relationship with Gerry was electric from the start. The pair had plenty of chemistry, and Leslie was willing to be vulnerable with her feelings. It was heartbreaking and shocking for the Midwestern woman when she was passed over for Theresa. However, I don’t think it would’ve worked out between Gerry and Leslie, either.

Leslie and Gerry had fundamentally different personalities, which contributed to why their relationship wouldn’t have worked out long-term. The Minnesotan woman was clearly super active, social, and vibrant. She teaches dance classes, travels, and even works at a music venue. While Gerry was also sociable, he definitely had a more reserved and stable lifestyle. As a retired restaurateur, Gerry valued a quieter life. This is probably why he chose Theresa, who was a little more relaxed, though she wasn’t retired yet. I think Leslie would’ve wanted a little more excitement than Gerry could offer.

Leslie is way too free-spirited for Gerry, who wants to relax in his golden years. Her Instagram highlights her busy, full, and spontaneous lifestyle. According to her bio, Leslie is a “10x Marathon Finisher & Personal Trainer, Former National Aerobics Champion, [and] Former Professional Figure Skater,” an impressive CV. She shows no signs of stopping, with Leslie advertising new dance classes on her profile in June. While Gerry was attracted to Leslie’s energy, I don’t think he could’ve kept up with her.
Leslie is an impressive athlete, and while Gerry was attracted to that, she needed someone who could keep up with her.

The Long-Distance Relationship Wouldn’t Have Worked
The main reason Gerry and Theresa got divorced was the long-distance. Neither one of them wanted to be far away from their communities and families, leading to the crumbling of their short-lived union. Unfortunately, Gerry and Leslie would have faced the same problem. While Leslie likes to travel, she has roots and family in Minnesota, and it’s unlikely she’d want to move away to be with Gerry. Leslie and Gerry had a solid connection, but I think they would’ve ended up divorced. I’m glad he chose Theresa and spared Leslie’s heart on The Golden Bachelor.
