How Are Joe & Ellie Making Bri Muller Look Bad on Below Deck Med?

Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s Bri Muller may have made a few mistakes throughout her time aboard Mustique, but I’m worried she’s getting the villain edit unfairly. Bri, who’s in her first Below Deck season and third year of yachting, is working as the Third Stew aboard Mustique. Working beneath Chief Stew Aesha Scott and Second Stew Ellie Dubaich, Bri has been able to learn a lot in the first charters of the season, but she’s also had her own set of struggles that have been impacting her work. With both personal and professional drama, Bri’s had a hard time.

Although Bri and Ellie began the season getting along, things got heated in the first episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 when both women found themselves interested in Deckhand Joe Bradley. Joe, who has been made the Lead Deckhand by Bosun Iain Maclean, has been doing well aboard the superyacht, but his personal relationships with Bri and Ellie have been messy. Bri’s performance struggled after she and Joe hooked up, as the drama between her and Ellie heated up when the Second Stew found out she’d been double-crossed. I fear Bri’s time aboard Mustique is being pained as villainous.

Joe Is The One Who Started The Feud Between Ellie & Bri

Below Deck Med's Ellie smiles, Joe sips a beverage & Bri sticks her tongue out.

Throughout the first charter of Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, Joe was getting flirty vibes from both Bri and Ellie, but the women hadn’t confided in each other about their feelings for him yet. When they did, Bri shared that she wasn’t interested in anyone aboard Mustique, while Ellie said that she was attracted to Joe. When Joe was flirty with both women on a crew night out, it pushes Bri to make a move on him and disregard Ellie’s feelings. I think Bri made some mistakes, but she felt emboldened by Joe to do something that would hurt Ellie.

Ellie Undermines Bri All The Time

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9's Elena Dubaich looks serious, while setting a table in the background.

As a Second Stew, Ellie is meant to be second in command and take the lead if Aesha isn’t available. While Ellie is simply doing her job when she gives Bri orders, she doesn’t appear to realize that when she talks over Ellie in front of other crew members or gives her orders with others present, she’s undermining her fellow Stew. Bri has been working hard to ensure that she’s doing her best aboard Mustique, and while she’s made several mistakes with her work, Ellie’s attitude toward her hasn’t been helping the situation. Undermining Bri just shakes her confidence unnecessarily.

Bri Is Only Trying To Stand Up for Herself & For What She Wants

Though I believe that Bri’s behavior has been difficult for some to comprehend, she’s spent the majority of the charter season doing her best to stand up for herself and what she wants, even if that comes at the expense of others. Bri’s behavior has been questionable at times, but she’s apologized for the mistakes she’s made and tried to advocate for herself as often as possible throughout the charter season. I believe Bri is unfairly being made out to be Below Deck Mediterranean season 9’s villain so that Ellie and Joe look better, but she could still bounce back.
