A situation brewing among two crew members in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 will cause massive problems during the charter season. This season, Below Deck Med fans have been watching Captain Sandy Yawn and her crew take over Greece, and it has been a very entertaining season so far. Alumni Chief Stew Aesha Scott is back for her third season with Captain Sandy in the Med after having been the Chief Stew of the Below Deck Down Under franchise for the last two seasons. There has already been dramatic guests, deck mishaps, laundry disasters, and several near-firings done by Captain Sandy.
The other major entertaining factor of Below Deck Med season 9 has been the forming of boatmances. Below Deck fans can always expect at least one crew romance each season, and there have been several this season. Second Stew Elena Dubaich and Third Stew Muller were both eyeing Lead Deckhand Joe Bradley, and Bri was the first to get together with him, causing tension between her and Elena. There is also another boatmance that is causing even more trouble. Below Deck Med viewers are seven episodes into season 9, and the crew is going on their fifth charter in the next episode. From the beginning of the season, deckhands Gael Cameron and Nathan Gallagher caught each other’s eye. Nathan was immediately smitten by Gael and wasted no time trying to get alone time away from cameras with her. However, Gael questioned herself and did not meet Nathan. While working on deck the Bravolebrities are flirty with each other, but keep it mostly professional.
But on a night out with the crew, the pair are often sitting closely and only talking to each other or dancing together. Nathan has told Gael how attractive she is several times now, and Gael seems to like receiving the compliments. In the latest episode, viewers saw Gael and Nathan share a kiss on the stairs before breaking it up and going their separate ways for the night.

On the first day of the charter season, the question was asked of who among the deck team was single, and Gael revealed she was in a relationship with the engineer on her previous boat. Her unnamed boyfriend and she did say I love you to each other over the phone, but their relationship was strained because Gael leaving for another boat away from her partner made her boyfriend uneasy. Throughout this season Gael and her boyfriend have been arguing via text, with Gael feeling like her boyfriend wanted her to be needy.
When Gael was recently on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, she was asked by a Below Deck Med fan how her boyfriend reacted to her Nathan hookup and whether she and her man were still together. Gael said she was honest with him about everything and that he did get mad. However, she told fans they would have to wait and see what happens this season regarding her relationship status.

Nathan does seem to really like being around Gael, and she is the only girl that caught his eye on the boat, but he has also given off playboy vibes. Nathan’s Irish charm has worked on Gael, but he may not be in for the long term since he is a world-traveling yachtie.

No Good Can Come From Their Boatmance
If things progress between Nathan and Gael, whether it’s their continued flirting, more kissing, or something even further, it will get even more messy between Gael and her boyfriend. Nathan has said he has no loyalty to anyone so he doesn’t mind hitting on Gael despite her having a boyfriend. Gael has also brought other crew members like Aesha and Chef Jono Shillingford into the goings-on between her and her boyfriend and her and Nate, and the whole crew is interested to see what plays out.
Even if Gael and Nathan were to try making things work together off the yacht, their relationship started off from a shady circumstance.
Gael seems to be in over her head and Nathan is along for the ride. As long as their Below Deck Med boatmance doesn’t affect their work on deck, then the pair should be able to carry on with their own personal consequences in mind.
