Though Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, stars of The Golden Bachelor season 1, recently settled their divorce, I grow increasingly convinced that the septuagenarian couple will eventually get back together. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I still believe that 72-year-old Gerry and 70-year-old Theresa aren’t quite finished with this particular chapter of their lives. Judging by the internet’s obsession with the recent divorcees, the fans aren’t quite finished with the Golden couple either.
Gerry and Theresa’s love story started on night one of the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor, and their bond only deepened throughout the season. In the end, Gerry sent home 21 other eligible elderly bachelorettes, and gave his final rose to Theresa. The two were married in a nationally televised wedding event soon after. Though hopes were high for the Golden newlyweds, they announced their divorce three short months after getting married. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about Gerry and Theresa’s love lives, but I’m convinced that they’re going to get back together.
Gerry Has Been Trying To Get Theresa’s Attention

Since The Golden Bachelor season 1 couple announced their divorce, Gerry’s been trying to get Theresa’s attention. First, soon after the announcement, IndyStar reported that Gerry was spotted at a dating meetup in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Soon after that, Gerry got tongues wagging when he told TMZ that he was already fielding offers from women who were interested in dating him.
Gerry claimed that his Instagram was being flooded by women sliding into his DMs, and even approaching him in person to give him their phone numbers.
The Golden Bachelor season 1 star was careful to say that he hadn’t contacted any of the women. He cited the fact that he wasn’t ready to start dating again. Whether Gerry meant this as a warning to Theresa, that’s how it came off, and I think it just may work.

If Gerry wants Theresa back, which I believe he does, he should stop being so subtle about it. At one point, Gerry sent Theresa a message when he wore a graphic tee shirt that read, “Indiana. It’s Not That Bad.” This was in reference to the fact that The Golden Bachelor season 1 couple broke up because Theresa didn’t want to move from New Jersey to Indiana. Though the tee shirt made me chuckle, I think Gerry should go for a bigger gesture. Maybe he can take a cue from the movies and go to her house with a boombox.
Though if Gerry wanted to keep it simple, an expensive bouquet of flowers could also do the trick.

Though my inner cynic thinks the rushed wedding was a ratings grab by a television network wanting to capitalize on the show’s success, the romantic in me wants to believe that Gerry and Theresa were carried away by true love.
