What Became of Alex Radcliffe After Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5?
Alex Radcliffe appeared in Below Deck Mediterranean season 5 as a deckhand, and he’s been up to a lot since. As the season progressed, he was promoted to lead deckhand for taking the most initiative on the boat. During his time on the series, Alex worked alongside Bosun Malia White, Rob Westergaard, and Pete Hunziker on deck. Alex got along with everyone on the crew, especially the Second Stew turned Chief Stew, Bugsy Drake. The two had a bit of a boatmance, but it didn’t progress after they left The Wellington yacht in Spain.
While Below Deck Med season 5 was airing during the summer of 2020, Alex was beloved by the viewers. They appreciated his happy-go-lucky attitude and his ability to get the job done right every time. Alex was also respected for the way he courted Bugsy without pressuring her or demanding more than she was willing to give. Alex valued Bugsy as a person and only wanted to pursue a relationship if she wanted to. After leaving the yacht in Spain, following Below Deck Med season 5, Alex worked in yachting for a little while longer, according to his Instagram. In June 2020, Alex shared a photo of himself on a boat with the location tagged as Prince William Sound, which is on the Gulf of Alaska. He also posted several pictures of himself in the Bahamas, where he stayed for a month, completing a charter season.
When he wasn’t working on yachts, Alex was usually in Fort Lauderdale, where yachties usually go to find more work. Alex did take a break from the yachting industry, as he was in Costa Rica with his Below Deck Medco-star and good friend, Jessica More, in the summer of 2021. However, now Alex works as a yacht broker in Boston, Massachusetts. According to his Instagram, it seems Alex has been a yacht broker for almost two years now.

Alex took some time in the summer of 2021 in Costa Rica to find himself. He wrote in an Instagram caption at the time, “So today is day 1 of my new journey ‘The Reset’ I chose to go to Central America to hopefully truly find myself,” he began. “For as long as I remember I truly struggle with terrible anxiety and insecurities […] I hope I can come out of this experience with more confidence and find a way to deal with my daily struggles.” Alex wanted time away from the yachting industry to take a step back from his work and become more in tune with himself.

A lot has changed for Alex since he was a deckhand on Below Deck Med season 5. For one, he left yachting, maybe not the industry, but his career on yachts. Alex now works as a yacht broker for Off The Hook Yachts, a yacht brokerage based in North Carolina. Alex’s career switch happened in December 2022 when he began working for Monahan’s Marine; however, it’s unclear when Alex moved over to this new yacht brokerage. Due to this job change, Alex seemingly moved to Massachusetts, as most of his Instagram photos are tagged with a location in Massachusetts.
Other than his career, Alex’s relationship status has also changed since Below Deck Med season 5. Alex seems to be in a relationship with a woman named Jade Demato, according to his Instagram page. Alex never confirmed when the two started dating, but he shared his first photo with her on February 26. Therefore, Alex and his new flame have been together for at least almost five months. Alex looks happier than ever in his new relationship.
” Going to have fun with it and see what happens. Stop with the positivity and fuel me with negativity. I live for it. If you see me running around throw donuts or twinkies at me. It gets me jacked up and maybe I’ll take a bite, who knows .”
Alex is also working on his fitness goals. The former Below Deck Med star has been updating his followers on his weight-loss journey but in a satirical way. He began his journey in the “Day 1 at fat camp” introduction on June 12. He wrote in the caption that he’s just going to have fun with this experience and see where it takes him. On July 8, Alex did his first “weigh-in,” where the scale just said “FAT” and Alex joked about how he doesn’t understand why he can’t lose weight. Alex doesn’t take himself seriously, and this weight-loss series shows that.
Since Below Deck Med season 5 came to an end, Alex has been working hard in his yacht broker career. He realized the sea life wasn’t for him and took his yachting skills on land. Now, Alex is in a happy relationship, has a successful career, and still takes time to entertain his followers on Instagram. As for his return to Below DeckMediterranean, that time in his life is long gone.
