90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise season 4 couple Alex Roshon and Adriano Cardinale are butting heads over their personal beliefs. The Love In Paradise spinoff was originally titled Love In Paradise: The Caribbean, A 90 Day Story for the first two seasons and was inclusive to people who had met on vacation in the Caribbean. In 2021, the show expanded to be 90 Day Fiance: Love In Paradise, and now follows Americans who fell in love in all different vacation destinations.
Alex, 30, is a family therapist from Dallas, Texas. She met Adriano, 33, on a dating app while traveling in Italy. Nearly a year into their relationship, Alex and Adriano had only spent ten days together in person. Alex finally traveled to Naples to be with Adriano and work through their differences. The couple is stunning and has strong chemistry, but their views may prove to be incompatible.

She had engaged in threesomes in the past, but she made it clear that she did not want to bring other partners into her relationship with Adriano. Alex admitted the threesome discussion was “hindering” their relationship and could be a deal-breaker.
Adriano had a different understanding of the matter, claiming to his friend that Alex had expressed interest in threesomes when they met. Religion was not brought up between Alex and Adriano until several episodes into their appearance on 90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise. During a conversation with Alex’s cousin, the couple revealed their conflicting views on religion. Adriano is an atheist, while Alex has a strong belief in God. Initially, Alex presented her religion simply as something important to her, just as threesomes are important to Adriano. However, Alex soon admitted that she did see religion becoming a problem in the future.
When Adriano brought Alex to meet his parents, the evening went well until Alex brought up religion. Adriano and Alex both expressed concern about how religion would be a problem in their future, with neither showing openness to change. Knowing Adriano’s parents were religious, Alex thought she would find support, and together they could convince him to change. Instead, Adriano’s mother defended her son’s right to his religious views. Despite bonding with Alex as they cooked a lovely Italian meal, Adriano’s mother was disturbed that his son’s girlfriend was unwilling to accept him as he is.

On the drive home from his parents’ house, Alex and Adriano continued to discuss their differences. Alex worried Adriano’s lack of beliefs would impact his ability to love and support her. Adriano had already broken up with her twice over her refusal to bring other partners into their bedroom. Heartbreakingly, she reminded him that in spite of that, she was still with him and trying to make it work. Now that Alex is 30, she feels pressure to start a family, and for this reason she is forcing a relationship that may not be right for her.
Alex explained that in the past her partners had pressured her to change her lifestyle for them. She had engaged in partying and threesomes, and it was not until she found religion that she was able to set boundaries and be secure in her refusal. This reveals that Alex’s religion is the reason behind their sexual incompatibility, as well as a separate issue on its own. With both Alex and Adriano’s beliefs such a core part of their personal values, there does not appear to be anywhere for them to meet in the middle.
90 Day Fiancé: Love in Paradise is about couples learning to accept their differences. With both Alex and Adriano appearing unwilling to do this, it is hard to see how their romance can have a future. Their love for one another will not be enough to sustain a relationship if they refuse to compromise on their beliefs.
