Below Deck: The deep feud between Barbie Pascual and Xandi Olivier takes a surprising turn
Below Deck season 11’s Barbie Pascual and Xandi Olivier have had a long-running feud throughout the charter season, but now that it’s finished airing, they offered a shocking update on where they stand. Barbie and Xandi were working on the interior team beneath Chief Stew Fraser Olender, and their time on the team was eye-opening for both of them. While Barbie struggled under Fraser’s management, Xandi was able to get close to the Chief Stew and create a lasting bond. When the stews went head-to-head, it was a highly emotional moment for them both, but things have changed with time.
In an Instagram post, Barbie shared an update on where her relationship with Xandi stands now that they’ve been off St. David for over a year. “We are here to tell you that we’re all good,” Barbie shared in a video from a Below Deck watch party with Captain Kerry Titheradge, herself, and Xandi in the frame.
“We made up,” Xandi laughed to the camera, as Barbie hugged her from the side. Barbie captioned the quick video, which was shocking to Below Deck viewers, “Update: Nothing but love.” The video was a surprising update for the former Below Deck foes.
Barbie vs. Xandi: Which Below Deck Star Was Right?
Barbie and Xandi may have had a long-standing feud, but now that it appears to be over, which stew was in the right? Xandi, who quickly proved great at the more isolated interior jobs like laundry and housekeeping, became Fraser’s second stew after just a couple of charters. While Xandi didn’t enjoy the guest-facing parts of being a stew, she was happy to do more of the grunt work. Barbie, alternately, was better at being a guest-facing stew, though she was competent with the interior work Xandi did. The pair butted heads, as Xandi felt Barbie wasn’t up to par.
On the last night of the charter, Barbie and Xandi traveled to St. David in the same car after a night out. Both intoxicated, Xandi told Barbie she would’ve fired her if she’d been the Chief Stew. Barbie, who felt she’d been getting picked apart by the rest of her team unnecessarily all season, was offended and blew up at Xandi. Both women struggled to communicate their issues with each other, but Barbie chose to leave the situation, albeit dramatically. While Xandi’s dislike of Barbie had merit, Barbie was right about the rest of the crew continually picking on her.
With Below Deck season 11 finally finishing up, the feud between Barbie and Xandi has also apparently come to a close. The stews have chosen to put their anger at one another down, and in the time since Below Deck finished filming, have managed to come together and build a friendship. Though Xandi and Barbie weren’t great as colleagues, it appears that the Below Deck stews make far better friends to one another than viewers could’ve expected. While Barbie was right in her annoyance with Xandi, the fact that they’ve been able to get over their issues is inspiring.
